Skills are modular folders of instructions and resources that Claude can load on demand to perform specialized tasks—like creating Office documents or running workflows. As of a July 2026 update, **both prebuilt and custom skills are available on Free, Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise plans** (custom skills need Cloud code execution turned on). The one piece still gated to paid plans is **recording a skill**—showing Claude a screen recording of a task so it drafts the skill for you—available on Pro, Max, and Team in Cowork on Claude for Mac only.
